About Us
Founded by Her Majesty Mambokadzi Arutura Collier Aluko, a visionary leader with deep roots in African heritage and a passion for social justice, Nations of Mother Earth (N.O.M.E.) is a Community Interest Company dedicated to improving the lives of marginalised people of African descent. We believe everyone deserves a chance to grow well, regardless of circumstance.
Our work focuses on providing welfare support, fostering community connections, offering education and training opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship, and preserving African culture and heritage. We serve those most in need, including the elderly, youth, abuse survivors, the unemployed, and people facing various challenges such as mental health conditions or lack of education.
Rooted in the Community
Over the years, Nations of Mother Earth has grown into one of the most trusted and respected organizations serving African and Caribbean peoples in Northern Ireland. We are not simply an organization that works for the community - we are woven into it. Our relationships are built on years of showing up, listening deeply, and responding with care, competence, and cultural understanding.
We are proud to be recognized as a highly respected facilitator across the voluntary sector, working in close partnership with organizations in education, the arts, health and wellbeing, and the Police Service of Northern Ireland. Wherever our communities have needed a voice at the table, N.O.M.E. has been present — bringing lived experience, advocacy, and a commitment to equitable outcomes.
A Trusted ‘Go-To’ for African and Caribbean People
For many individuals and families, N.O.M.E. is the first call they make when life becomes difficult. We are known as a dependable, accessible, and compassionate point of contact - a safe space where people are genuinely heard. Whether the need is personal, professional, or urgent, we respond quickly and without judgement.
Our support extends across a wide range of needs:
• Personal and family matters - navigating difficult circumstances at home, understanding rights, accessing services, and finding a way forward
• Professional issues - workplace disputes, signposting to legal or employment advice, and support for individuals in business
• Dispute resolution - helping to mediate and resolve conflicts within families, workplaces, and community settings
• Advocacy and representation - standing alongside individuals and businesses to ensure their voices are heard by institutions, statutory bodies, and service providers
• Community liaison - bridging the gap between African and Caribbean communities and the wider civic, voluntary, and statutory sectors in Northern Ireland
• Signposting - connecting people quickly to the right organizations, services, and professionals so that no one is left navigating complex systems alone
• Rapid response - because we understand that some situations cannot wait, we prioritize timely, practical, person-centered support
We listen first. We take needs seriously. We act.
N.O.M.E. has earned its place as a go-to resource precisely because we never positioned ourselves above the people we serve. Our door - and our phone - is open. From the individual seeking clarity on a benefit entitlement, to the family navigating a safeguarding concern, to the entrepreneur seeking guidance on how to establish themselves in Northern Ireland, we offer grounded, culturally informed support that makes a real difference.
We are proud of what this community has built together - and we remain wholly committed to serving it with integrity, warmth, and excellence.
Arts, Education and Cultural Facilitation
Nations of Mother Earth is a dynamic and versatile cultural force when bringing African and Caribbean arts and heritage to life across a wide range of settings. We deliver engaging arts events that celebrate the richness and diversity of our communities, and we take that energy directly into schools - working with young people through structured, curriculum-linked sessions that bring African history, culture, and creative expression into the classroom.
Our masterclasses offer deeper learning experiences for those wishing to develop their skills, while our In-Service Training for educators equips teachers with the cultural knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to deliver inclusive, representative education with authenticity. For musicians, we provide studio facilitation, supporting artists through the process of recording and producing their own work - giving voice to talent that might otherwise go unheard. We are a trusted presence at local government events and civic occasions, where our performances bring colour, meaning, and cultural depth to public life. Our work extends to national and international conferences, where we contribute presentations that centre African and Caribbean perspectives in conversations about education, culture, identity, and community. We also convene and facilitate dedicated themed gatherings - purposeful spaces for dialogue, celebration, and collective learning that bring communities together around shared heritage and lived experience. In all that we do, we carry the belief that art educates, heals, connects, and transforms.
Across the African Continent
The reach of Nations of Mother Earth extends beyond the shores of Northern Ireland. In Zimbabwe and South Africa, N.O.M.E. is actively engaged in grassroots development work that speaks directly to the most pressing needs of rural and underserved communities. Guided by the same values of dignity, self-determination, and cultural pride that define our work, our continental presence is built on genuine relationships with the people and the land.
In rural areas, we provide consultancy and hands-on support for environmental and community development - working alongside local leaders to create sustainable solutions that honour indigenous knowledge and the natural world. Where need is most acute, we mobilise practical, life-sustaining support: food, clothing, and medical care for those who would otherwise go without. We have championed the construction of school buildings, sponsoring infrastructure that gives children - particularly girls - access to the education they deserve.
Young women and men are at the heart of our African programmes. We facilitate platforms for youth representation, ensuring that the voices of the next generation are heard in conversations that shape their futures. Our healthcare outreach equips women with vital information on family planning, reproductive health, and wellbeing - delivered with cultural sensitivity and respect for community values.
Nations of Mother Earth also plays a meaningful role in connecting African creativity with the world. We facilitate international arts events that celebrate and elevate the rich cultural traditions of Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the broader continent, while actively supporting local craft makers to access international markets - turning artistry into livelihood, and heritage into economic empowerment.
Whether in Belfast, Harare, or Johannesburg, Nations of Mother Earth holds one constant truth: every community deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
