Who We Serve
The Elderly, Young People and Children in Low-Income Households
We support older members of our communities to live with dignity, remain connected, and access the care and resources they are entitled to. For children and young people growing up in low-income households, we provide access to educational enrichment, cultural grounding, and nurturing spaces that broaden horizons and build confidence - because financial hardship should never limit a young person's future.
Unemployed People
We work with individuals who are out of work - whether recently made redundant, long-term unemployed, or returning to the workforce after a period away. We offer practical support with job searching, CV preparation, signposting to training opportunities, and navigating the benefits system, while helping people to rebuild confidence and a sense of purpose.
Victims of Abuse and Violence
We offer a safe, non-judgmental space for those who have experienced abuse or violence - whether domestic, sexual, racial, or otherwise. We listen, we believe, and we act — helping individuals to understand their rights, access appropriate services, and take steps toward safety and recovery at their own pace.
People at Risk of Social Isolation and Loneliness
Isolation can be silent and deeply damaging. We actively reach out to those who are disconnected from community life - whether through bereavement, age, migration, disability, or circumstance - creating opportunities for meaningful connection, belonging, and participation in community events and activities.
People Living Through Substance Abuse
We provide compassionate, non-judgmental support to individuals and families affected by substance abuse, helping people to access appropriate treatment, navigate recovery pathways, and rebuild their lives. We understand the complex personal, social, and cultural factors that can underpin addiction, and we meet people where they are.
People with Mental Health Conditions
We recognize that mental health challenges are among the most misunderstood and underserved areas of need within African and Caribbean communities. We offer a culturally informed, stigma-free space for individuals to be heard, signpost to clinical and community-based support, and advocate for equitable access to mental health services.
People with Physical Disabilities
We support individuals living with physical disabilities to access services, assert their rights, and participate fully in community and cultural life. We work to remove barriers — practical, social, and attitudinal - and ensure that disability is never a reason for exclusion or diminished opportunity.
People Without Formal Education
Lack of formal qualifications should never define a person's potential. We work with individuals who have had limited access to education - whether due to circumstance, displacement, or systemic exclusion - providing access to learning opportunities, skills development, and the encouragement to pursue knowledge at any stage of life.
Bereavement, Loss and Funeral Support
We walk alongside families during some of life's most painful moments. When death comes, the practical and emotional demands that follow can feel overwhelming - particularly for African and Caribbean families navigating systems that may feel unfamiliar or culturally insensitive. We help families liaise with funeral directors, hospitals, and registrars, coordinate arrangements, and ensure that loved ones are honoured with dignity. We are attentive to the cultural and spiritual dimensions of mourning, including the repatriation of remains and traditional practices, and we continue to support those who are grieving long after the funeral has passed.
Single Parents and Lone-Carers
Raising a family alone brings unique pressures - financial, emotional, and practical. We support single parents and lone carers to access the services, benefits, and community networks they are entitled to, while offering a space where their resilience is recognized and their needs are taken seriously.
Kinship Carers and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Many grandparents and extended family members step in to raise children when parents are unable to do so - often with little preparation, limited financial support, and no formal recognition of their role. We help kinship carers to navigate the legal, financial, and emotional landscape of their responsibilities, ensuring they are not left to manage alone.
Families Going Through Separation or Divorce
The breakdown of a relationship affects every member of a family. We offer a supportive, neutral space for individuals navigating separation or divorce - helping them to understand their rights, access mediation and legal signposting, and protect the wellbeing of children caught in the middle.
Families with Children in Care or Involved with Social Services
Involvement with social services can be one of the most frightening and disempowering experiences a families face. We advocate alongside parents and carers, helping them to understand processes, engage constructively with professionals, and work toward the best possible outcomes for their children.
Teenage Parents
Young parents face a particular set of challenges - navigating parenthood while still developing themselves. We offer non-judgmental support that acknowledges both their youth and their responsibility, connecting them to practical resources, peer networks, and opportunities to continue their own education and personal growth.
Refugees and Asylum Seekers
Arriving in a new country - often after unimaginable hardship - can leave individuals and families feeling profoundly alone and uncertain. We offer a warm and culturally aware welcome, helping refugees and asylum seekers to understand their rights, access essential services, and begin to build a sense of safety and belonging.
Newly Arrived Migrants and Diaspora Communities
Starting life in Northern Ireland brings both opportunity and challenge. We support newly arrived individuals and families to find their footing - navigating housing, employment, education, healthcare, and civic life - while celebrating the cultural richness they bring to our communities.
People with No Recourse to Public Funds
Those with no recourse to public funds face some of the most acute hardship of any group - legally excluded from mainstream support yet very much present and in need. We work sensitively and practically with individuals in this situation, connecting them to whatever support is available and advocating for their dignity and safety.
Undocumented Individuals
We provide a safe, discreet, and non-judgmental space for undocumented individuals who need support but fear accessing services. Our role is to listen, inform, and connect - helping people to understand their options without exposure to further risk.
People Navigating the Immigration and Visa System
Immigration processes can be complex, costly, and deeply stressful. We help individuals and families to understand the system, identify appropriate legal support, and prepare for applications and appeals - reducing the anxiety that comes from navigating an unfamiliar and often unforgiving bureaucracy.
People Experiencing Racial Discrimination or Hate Crime
Racial discrimination and hate crime cause lasting harm - to individuals, families, and communities. We stand firmly alongside those who have experienced racism in any form, helping them to report incidents, access support, and pursue justice, while advocating for systemic change that protects everyone.
Mixed-Heritage Individuals Navigating Cultural Identity
Questions of identity can be particularly complex for those of mixed heritage - navigating multiple cultures, expectations, and communities. We offer a space of affirmation and exploration, celebrating the richness of mixed heritage while supporting individuals to develop a confident and grounded sense of self.
LGBTQ+ Members of African and Caribbean Communities
We recognise that LGBTQ+ individuals within African and Caribbean communities can face compounded experiences of marginalization - within both wider society and sometimes within their own communities. We are committed to providing an inclusive, respectful, and affirming space for all.
Second and Third Generation Diaspora Reconnecting with Heritage
For many young people born in Northern Ireland to African or Caribbean families, questions of cultural identity and belonging run deep. We offer programmes, spaces, and relationships that help second and third generation diaspora to explore and connect with their heritage — on their own terms and in their own time.
People Experiencing Religious Discrimination
Faith is central to the lives of many in our communities, and discrimination on religious grounds can be both deeply personal and practically damaging. We support individuals who have experienced religious discrimination to understand their rights, access appropriate advice, and feel affirmed in their identity.
Unpaid Carers and Family Caregivers
Unpaid carers - those looking after a family member or friend due to illness, disability, or age - often sacrifice their own health, careers, and wellbeing in silence. We help carers to access respite, benefits, peer support, and recognition for the extraordinary contribution they make.
People with Long-Term or Chronic Illness
Living with a long-term or chronic condition affects every area of life. We support individuals to navigate healthcare systems, access entitlements, maintain social connections, and find community - ensuring that illness does not mean isolation.
People Recovering from Serious Illness or Hospitalization
The period following serious illness or a hospital stay can be physically and emotionally fragile. We offer practical support and a caring presence during recovery - helping individuals to re-engage with daily life, access follow-up care, and rebuild their strength with the support of community around them.
People Experiencing Homelessness or Housing Insecurity
Stable housing is the foundation on which everything else depends. We support individuals and families facing homelessness or insecure housing to access emergency provision, understand their rights as tenants, and work toward longer-term stability - with particular sensitivity to the cultural dimensions of housing need.
Pregnant Women and New Mothers with Limited Support
Pregnancy and early parenthood can be isolating for those without strong family or social networks around them. We offer a warm and culturally informed space for expectant and new mothers - connecting them to health services, peer support, and practical assistance during one of life's most significant transitions.
People with Experience of the Criminal Justice System
Contact with the criminal justice system - whether as a victim, witness, or someone who has been convicted - can have profound and lasting consequences. We support individuals at all points of this journey, helping them to understand processes, access legal signposting, and - for those rebuilding after incarceration - to reintegrate into community life with dignity.
People Involved in Child Custody or Family Court Proceedings
Family court proceedings can be among the most emotionally charged and confusing legal processes a person faces. We help individuals to understand what is happening, identify appropriate legal support, and maintain focus on the wellbeing of their children throughout.
Individuals Facing Eviction or Housing Disputes
The threat of eviction or an unresolved housing dispute can cause enormous stress and instability. We support individuals to understand their rights, engage with landlords or housing authorities, and access legal advice - working to prevent homelessness before it occurs.
People in Debt or Facing Financial Crisis
Financial crisis can arrive suddenly and spiral quickly. We support individuals facing debt, arrears, or financial hardship to access appropriate advice, engage with creditors, and develop a realistic path toward stability - without shame and without judgement.
People in Insecure, Zero-Hours, or Exploitative Employment
Not all work offers security or dignity. We support individuals in precarious employment to understand their rights, identify exploitation, and access advice on fair pay, working conditions, and routes to more stable work.
People Without Access to Banking or Financial Services
Financial exclusion compounds every other form of hardship. We help individuals who are unbanked or underserved by financial institutions to access appropriate products, understand their options, and engage with the financial system safely.
People Without Digital Access or Low Digital Literacy
In an increasingly digital world, those without access to technology or the skills to use it are left behind. We support individuals to develop digital confidence, access devices and connectivity, and engage with online services that are increasingly essential to daily life.
People Who Do Not Speak English as a First Language
Language barriers can make every interaction with services, institutions, and employers more difficult and more stressful. We provide a culturally and linguistically aware point of support, helping individuals to communicate effectively, access interpretation where needed, and engage fully in community life.
People Who Have Never Engaged with Statutory or Civic Services
Some individuals have never accessed statutory support - through distrust, unfamiliarity, past negative experiences, or simply not knowing what is available. We act as a bridge, helping people to engage with public services on their own terms, with someone they trust beside them.
Inexperienced Workers
We support those who are new to the workforce or lacking in professional experience - including young people entering employment for the first time and those changing career direction. Through mentoring, skills workshops, and connections to employers and training providers, we help people to take their first confident steps into working life.
Royal Estates and Landholders
We engage with royal estates and landholders as partners in community development, cultural programming, and social responsibility - exploring how land, space, and institutional influence can be used to benefit marginalized communities and support the broader public good.
Small Businesses
We champion African and Caribbean entrepreneurship. We support small business owners with practical guidance on establishing and growing their enterprises - from navigating registration and compliance, to accessing funding, developing networks, and reaching new markets. We believe that thriving businesses build thriving communities.
